Picture of Dr. Schreiber
Rachel L. Schreiber, M.D., FAAAAI is board certified in both Allergy/Immunology and Internal Medicine. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude, with a B.A. in English from the University of Maryland's General Honors Program. After finishing a research fellowship through an Intramural Research Training Award at the National Institutes of Health she went on to graduate with her M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and her Allergy/Immunology fellowship at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

After practicing Allergy/Immunology in Pittsburgh, Dr. Schreiber moved back to her native Maryland in 2005. In September of that year, she opened the Family HealthCare Allergy and Asthma Specialists in Germantown, MD.

Dr. Schreiber has published numerous articles in peer reviewed scientific journals, and is co-author of "Allergic Rhinitis" in Pediatric Otolaryngology. She is a 2008 and 2010 Washingtonian Magazine "Top Doctor" and has been named one of "America's Top Physicians" by the Consumers' Research Council of America. She is a member of numerous local and national medical and professional societies, and served as a Board Member for the Pennsylvania Allergy and Asthma Association. She is a mentor for students in the Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership class at George Washington University School of Business.

In 2007 Dr. Schreiber co-founded MommyDocs, LLC. Through MommyDocs she worked through multiple media outlets, including the web, print publications, radio, and local and national television to educate the public on practical pediatric medical issues. In 2009, she travelled to Hollywood to guest co-host the nationally syndicated show "The Doctors."

Dr. Schreiber lives in Rockville with her husband, two sons, and their chocolate lab Tela.

Leon Kao, M.D., is board certified in both Allergy & Immunology and Internal Medicine. He graduated Cum Laude from Duke University with a B.A. degree in chemistry. He graduated with an M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Kao completed his Internal Medicine internship at Northwestern University in Chicago and went on to complete his residency at Virginia Commonwealth University. After working as a hospitalist for a year in Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Kao completed his Allergy & Immunology fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.

During his allergy and immunology fellowship, Dr. Kao presented his research at national allergy meetings, and his research on drug allergies is published in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

Dr. Kao lives in Rockville and is an accomplished pianist. He also enjoys running, hiking, playing tennis, and traveling.

Colleen Ott, RN, BSN is our Allergy Center's Nursing Director. She is a 1993 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Following graduation, Colleen spent four years in active duty in the Army, and remained in the Army Reserves for a subsequent four years. Her nursing experience is extremely well rounded: She has worked on Medical-Surgical floors, Pediatric floors, and Labor & Delivery. Prior to joining the Allergy Center, she worked at Fort Meade's Medical Facility in Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and Internal Medicine. Colleen has lived overseas in Germany, and in the US, she has resided in Texas, Arizona, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

Colleen lives in Montgomery Village with her husband (still in the Army Reserves) and 2 children.

Connie McGaha, CMA graduated with her MA degree from Medix in 1991. She has extensive experiences as an MA and has worked in family practice for over 20 years. She been a part of our allergy office since 2008. Connie lives in New Market, and enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren.

Vicki Solomon, Administrative Assistant, has a BS in Psychology and Behavioral Science from Point Park College in Pittsburgh, PA. She moved from Pennsylvania to Maryland in 1989, and was a counselor for several years at Potomac Ridge and Chestnut Lodge. She joined Family HealthCare in 2004, and began working with our Allergy practice in November 2006. Vicki has one grown daughter, and lives in Germantown, MD.

You can count on Vicki for a friendly voice and a warm smile. And our littlest patients have fun covering her in stickers.
